words/notions covered: grok; PearPeople; Quips; to baldar; to micawber;

grok .. indispensable Martian for ‘understand in a way that you utterly drink deeply’; from Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein, an very interesting old sci-fi, sadly steeped in an appalling misogyny, but there it is. (cf baba -- for marinating divinely in an understanding or sensation like the dense cake baba au rhum soaking in its honeyed rum.)

PearPeople .. Pear-shaped people, square-shaped people, bean-pole-shaped people. Sheldon studied these body shapes -- he used fancy sciency names Pear (viscerotonic), Square (somatotonic), Bean-Pole (cerebrotonic) and he studied their characteristics. Obviously we're all a mix of body-types, but, like the patterns of astrology, these body-type patterns are useful. Us PearPeople use food to solve stress and distress. SquarePeople use Action, speed, volume. BeanPole People retreat -- a dark room with the blinds closed -- leave me alone until I get fixed.
Quips .. Happiness is a Muscle; Reminder: Be Kinder; Kindness Binds Us;
to baldar .. Using baldar as a verb came to me as I a-mused about befriending EveryThing on Earth, greeting and saying Thank you, Wow. Baldar is from ancient Norse lore. He was purely good, innocent, open. Folk set out to speak to EveryThing on Earth -- "Do no harm to dear Baldar!" It would be a game. Baldar could be walking down a street and someone would throw a rock at him and the rock would swerve away. EveryThing was watching out for Baldar. Of course then there was Loki who lurches back & forth from mischievous to wicked. He found the One Thing they'd forgotten to contact -- mistletoe way up in the mighty oaks. So he made a dart from the mistletoe, it strikes Baldar in the eye, and well, you know, goodgood Baldar died. I'm not telling this for sad tho. I use baldar as a verb for seeking to befriend & thank EveryThing on Earth -- and Remember the Mistletoe! Things love to be befriended and thanked. Caress each thing you notice with your attention. (I am very grateful that the wall next to my bed is willing to remain a wall and keep me dry and warm. And so4th.) I suppose you could call baldaring an active attitude of gratitude.  This is a private matter between You & The World. Yes yes, the daggone wall 'talks' back. I have a great ear for niche languages. I'm fluent in wall.
to micawber .. in spite of ghastly even grotesque circumstances, Micawber's default, his m.o. was always "something will turn up." A kind of quiet daily dogged courage.
